Tuesday Evening.
Dinner last night was good, Shirley is talking louder now, mainly to Dorothy and using hand gestures, she had dessert for a change too, Strudel a la mode for me and a light latte to finish off. Then it was off to the show, The Royal Princess Cast did a song and dance routine followed by Arturo the Hotel General Manager who has a great voice and performed three numbers, then a comedian Steve Bruner came on, he was funny and quick, some of his wit went over the heads of many and he made that funny too.

Another hour loss tonight :( Oh well with the lack of sleep last night and the early wake up, we should have a good night, plus being another sea day, no rush to leap out of bed.
………………………………………………………Wednesday…………………………………………………
.
I woke up at 7.45, grabbed a few more minutes while Dorothy showered, the older I get the more difficulty I seem to have adjusting to time change, especially travelling East on a "slow boat" changing one hour at a time. We lose another hour tonight and I have no idea what time zone we are in now. I know we gained 4 hours between Calgary and Honolulu but I believe we will have given them all back now.
.
Today's high will be 26c with a stiff breeze across the decks, I can really feel the change though it's still comfortable on the balcony where we're not feeling the wind so much. The Patter say's we lose yet another hour tonight :( This being the main reason we tend to travel Westerly when ever we can but with a rare itinerary such as we're on, well, "thems the breaks".
.
Spent some time in the Thalasso pool this morning which is up at the "pointy end" right above the bridge to be precise, had another lovely steam too in, where else but the steam room, my skin's as soft as a babies bum now, due mainly to the number of times I'm rubbing it with their up scale eucalyptus cream. Swapped a few "war stories" with Bruce up there, bumped into Jennie and Peter on the way down, I'm such a social butterfly :) Then Dorothy felt hungry!!!!? So off to eat, again.
Had a light lunch with Lynn and Paul from Toronto, Lynn is feeling much better now and looks it, Paul who's a "ropey old dodge pot" like myself, keeps me laughing with tales of his Mother in law who is 94 and lives with them and so the days pass, all too quickly at that.
I love meeting people and aboard a ship where for the most part we're all there for the same reasons, meeting and mingling comes easy, already it feels like we're chatting with old friends making it all very interesting and keeps us coming back.
.
We were invited to a wine tasting, so Dorothy while and I did a little bit of this and a little bit of that till she came back. She's seen a camera she likes in the photo shop, a Nikon Coolpix S8100, that could be a 5 before the 8 ??? It's selling on board for $299. Perhaps Jolene, you could Google it for me and let me know if it's a good buy compared to Calgary? Thank you.
.
My excitement at posting photos was premature yesterday, I brought the blog up on Picasa and posted three pics. It all went well, if not s l o w, the "your post was successful" notification came up and I was thrilled, then when I checked to view them, "nada" so I said fiddlesticks or words to that effect:) I just don't get it and like after having "tee martoonies and I fool so feelish"… I'm flummoxed.
.
News from the bridge informed us that during last night there was an electrical malfunction with one of the engines causing us to lose speed. We are now going to be late in arrival at Easter Island, but a spare part is being sent there. As the ocean tends to be calmer there in the mornings but can deteriorate in the afternoons, pax may or may not get to go ashore. We all have our fingers crossed for many of us it, along with Pitcairn were highlights that enticed us to book passage for this itinerary.
.
I must say that dinner was excellent tonight, especially the roast lamb, Shirley got excited and was telling us about her pot bellied pigs that all died from natural causes. She has cast aside her shell and blossomed since the first few nights. Her brother is still quiet and I strain to hear him hoping that I'm nodding in the right places.
.
As mentioned earlier, another hour will be grabbed back tonight, these 23 hour days are getting hard on us, I believe we only have two more hours to give back until we are on Eastern daylight time.
.
Time to say goodnight and get this post on it's way….
Its 9.45pm on the West Coast So while you are sitting on your balcony in 28c sunshine we thought you would like the latest news.
ReplyDeleteVancouver beat the Blackhawks 2-0 in the first game of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The CBC weather girl Clair Martin has just told us that Calgary can expect 5 -10 cm of Wet Snow overnight.
Howzat for tonight ???
Hi Tony!
ReplyDeleteLove your posts! I'm right along with you 'in spirit', all the way to Fort Lauderdale!
Let us know about Easter Island. I hope you get to go ashore...threaten a mutiny if necessary!
It must be great to have so many sea days to enjoy life "as it comes"... enjoy them.
Hopefully we can sail together again someday.
